Original Print “Moon Solo” Hanne Greaver 1966. Denmark artist.Woodblock cut, Limited edition print signed and numbered 27/50. Glass wooden frame measures 19 1/2 inches wide x 26 1/2 inches long.
Painter and printmaker Hanne Greaver was born Hanne Nielson in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1933. She attended the Kunsthaandvaerkerskolen (School of Arts and Crafts), Copenhagen, from 1953 to 1954, before coming to the United States to marry artist Harry Greaver. Once settled in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Greaver focused on printmaking and painting. She exhibited solo at the Left Bank Gallery in Michigan and at the University of Maine in the early 1960s, and in group shows at the Univeristy of Georgia (1964), with the Boston Printmakers (1976; Purchase Award), and the Michigan Printmakers (1977). In the late 1970s the Greavers moved to Oregon, where they settled permanently in Cannon Beach. There, they opened the Greaver Gallery, where they continue to work. Hanne is represented in permanent collections at the British Museum, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Beloit College, University Georgia, University Maine, Michigan State University, University Nebraska, and the Portland Art Museum, Oregon, among others.
